Lesson 1 - For married Men

This is for people who are married. If the bride groom (male) has taken dowry in cash (also called jode ki rakhm) from the bride. Then he has to return it immediately. If any such cash is taken, then it is haram and raise serious doubts on validation of nikah.

Hence, even if your marriage was done around 100 years ago and you are still alive. Return the cash to your wife. This is one of the reasons, the barakah is removed from the family. And it's an obligation on the husband to return the money to parents of his wife and if parents are not alive, then return money to the wife.

And for the people who are looking to get married. Please remember that taking dowry as cash is haram is Islam and you are not permissible to take it. It's your responsibility to take a stand and force your parents and relatives to not accept anything in cash as dowry.
