In this post, let us reflect on the blessed life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the last and final messenger of Allah, who was sent as a mercy to the worlds. His life is a complete model for every human being — as a son, a husband, a leader, a friend, and a servant of Allah.
1. Early Life in Makkah (570 CE)
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born in 570 CE in the noble tribe of Quraysh in Makkah.
(a) His father Abdullah passed away before his birth, and his mother Aminah died when he was just 6.
(b)He was raised first by his grandfather Abdul Muttalib, and later by his uncle Abu Talib.
Even in childhood, he was known as Al-Ameen (The Trustworthy) due to his honest and kind nature.
2. Marriage to Khadijah (RA)
At the age of 25, he married Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA), a wealthy businesswoman who was impressed by his honesty and character.
Their marriage was a source of deep love and support. She was the first to accept Islam.Together, they had six children, including Fatimah (RA), the mother of the Prophet’s descendants.
3. Revelation Begins – The Start of Prophethood
At the age of 40, during one of his retreats in the Cave of Hira, he received the first revelation through Angel Jibreel (AS):
Thus began his mission as the Final Messenger of Allah, calling people towards Tawheed (oneness of God) and away from idol worship.“Read in the name of your Lord who created...” (Surah Al-‘Alaq 96:1)
4. Years of Persecution in Makkah
For 13 years, the Prophet ﷺ and his followers faced intense persecution, torture, and boycott from the Quraysh.Despite that, he never responded with hatred. His character remained patient, forgiving, and firm in faith. Some of the early believers included Abu Bakr (RA), Ali (RA), Uthman (RA), and Bilal (RA).
️5. Migration to Madinah (Hijrah)
In 622 CE, after facing extreme hostility, Prophet ﷺ was commanded by Allah to migrate to Madinah. This migration (Hijrah) marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar. In Madinah, he established the first Islamic state based on justice, unity, and brotherhood between the Muhajirun (migrants) and Ansar (helpers).
6. Battles and Defence of Islam
The Muslims were attacked multiple times by Quraysh and other tribes. Notable battles include:
- Battle of Badr (victory despite being outnumbered)
- Battle of Uhud (a test of faith and lessons on obedience)
- Battle of Khandaq (a brilliant example of strategy and unity)
The Prophet ﷺ never initiated war for conquest — only to defend the faith and protect the innocent.
️7. Victory of Makkah – Mercy Even to Enemies
In 630 CE, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ entered Makkah without bloodshed, despite years of persecution.
He forgave his enemies saying:
The idols in the Kaaba were destroyed, and Tawheed was re-established.“No blame will there be upon you today. May Allah forgive you...” (Surah Yusuf 12:92)
8. Final Sermon – Universal Message
During his Farewell Hajj, the Prophet ﷺ delivered his Final Sermon which is a timeless charter of human rights and ethics:
He emphasized justice, the rights of women, the sanctity of life, and holding on to the Qur’an and Sunnah.O People! No Arab is superior to a non-Arab, nor is a non-Arab superior to an Arab… All mankind is from Adam, and Adam was from dust.
9. Passing Away (632 CE)
Shortly after returning from Hajj, the Prophet ﷺ fell ill. He passed away at the age of 63 in the house of Aishah (RA), his head resting on her lap. The entire Ummah mourned, and Abu Bakr (RA) reminded the people:
“Whoever worshipped Muhammad, know that he has died. But whoever worships Allah – Allah is Ever-Living.”
